Paul: For I speak to you Gentiles; inasmuch as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry. Romans 11:13

Everyone in this life has something they’re called to do, and that calling is precious. It is special to each one. Yes, there may be many people with similar calling to yours, but yours is unique to you. Only you can do it in a certain way.

There have been many great basketball players in the history of the game and NBA. You could talk of Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Akeem “The Dream” Olajuwon, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and so on. Each one of them is unique. Each one brings his own uniqueness to the game. There’s no use in comparing them as some try to do.

So, take PRIDE in your own calling. Be so confident of it. When you compare what you do with what others are doing or have done, you may be intimidated. But it shouldn’t be so. Each one of us has their own contribution to make in life.

While Steve Job and his successors at Apple Inc. may be so great at designing the best smartphone there is, they still have to depend on others to make the batteries and some other accessories that is far beyond their own expertise. And together, each of them makes a contribution toward an excellent product.

Yes, the battery may not be visible on the outside but it sure counts toward making it a must have based on the duration of his power. It sure contributes to its sleek appearance. For sure, the manufacturer of the battery should take pride in what they’re doing.

The story is told of the tour of the late US president, John F. Kennedy, to the NASA Space Centre in 1962 where he met and introduced himself to a Janitor and then asked what the guy was doing there. The man confidently replied: “I’m helping put a man on the moon.” Wow! That’s the spirit. Yes, the guy might never make it into the shuttle capsule but he’s sure making a contribution to the mission.

Then, find PEACE in it. Let the discovery of your calling settle every argument and quest in your heart and mind. Let it take you to that place of satisfaction and pleasure. Let it give you the much-needed rest that people are struggling to have in life. Let it settle every doubt. Let it bring you contentment in life.

And if after you think you’ve found it, there’s still some longing, probably you’ve not found it and so you need to keep searching. Or maybe you’ve found it but there are still depths you need to explore. Maybe there is more research to be done.

And finally, make it a PRIORITY in your life. Make your calling a big deal. Like Paul in the quoted scripture, magnify it. Make it big. Let people know that it’s important in your life. That it means so much to you. Because as you name it so people will call it for you.
